'tis the season

my first christmas away from home.
a california christmas.
the palms trees are lit up.
vendors are pimping out imitation snow.
my stocking and gifts have arrived via U.S. mail.
this isn't the christmas i know.
it's different.
it's different, but in a familiar way.
family does reside in san diego.
traditions are strikingly similar.
this year christmas is different, but i can roll with this.
i've got my lady, my cat, and our cozy casa.
east and west coast love have filled this home away from home.
'tis the season.
